Postdoc Position in the Vishal Kapoor's Lab

Date:Mar 19, 2025

The International Center for Primate Brain Research (ICPBR) is co-directed by Prof. Nikos Logothetis and Prof. Muming Poo, affiliated with the Center for Excellence in Brain Science and Intelligence Technology (CEBSIT) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in Shanghai. Here, the Laboratory of Neural Dynamics of Visual Perception and Cognition, led by Dr. Vishal Kapoor, is looking for Postdoctoral Research Fellow.

Responsibilities:

The lab is looking for postdoctoral fellows for projects focusing on the neural circuits underlying conscious visual perception. These projects employ techniques, ranging from individual or multi-regional, single or multi-electrode array recordings in awake (behaving and engaged in psychophysical paradigms) (e.g. Neuron 2012, Nature Communications 2022, Neuron 2023) and anesthetized non-human primates (e.g. PNAS 2018) to eye tracking, behavioral monitoring and EEG in humans, together with analytical approaches (inspired by machine learning (e.g. Communications Biology 2018) and dynamical systems) for analyzing high-dimensional neural data (PLOS Comp Bio 2023) and building computational models for investigating the neural algorithms underlying perceptual phenomena (e.g. PLOS One 2013).

Qualifications:

- Close to completing or hold a PhD in neuroscience or related disciplines (cognitive science, psychology, medicine, animal behavior, physics, mathematics, electrical or biomedical engineering, computer science).

- Prior experience with electrophysiology or imaging or behavioral monitoring in animal models or human subjects. Experience of working with non-human primates is considered a plus.

- Experience with programming (preferably with MATLAB or Python or R) and analysis of neural or psychophysical data is desirable. Experience with mathematical modeling is considered a plus.

Application:

To apply, please submit a CV, research statement (brief description of your past research, future career goals and how they relate to the lab) to the lab manager Yuewen Song (yuewen.song@icpbr.ac.cn) and hr@ion.ac.cn. For further information or questions, please contact the lab manager. Applications will be reviewed as they arrive until the positions are filled.
