Laboratory of Reproductive Engineering in Primates

Non-human primate has been considered as ideal animal model for brain study and biomedical study, as they share more similarities in the genetics, physiological anatomy, behaviors and so on. Our lab has two main research directions:

    On the one hand, we focus on the important questions of embryology, reproduction and stem cells in primate species. It includes somatic cell nuclear transfer and cell reprogramming, embryonic stem cell pluripotency, germ cell differentiation and spermatogonia stem cell culture. These studies will provide new potential transgenic technologies for non-human primates and new solutions for human reproductive barriers.

  On the other hand, we spare great efforts in developing genetic tools for monkey brain study by taking advantage of our experience in primate gene manipulation.
