Multiple Research Assistants Positions
TheDynamic Embodied Brain Laboratory (DEB Lab) at the International Center for Primate Brain Research (ICPBR) of the Institute of Neuroscience (ION) and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is seeking to hire multiple highly motivated Research Assistants (RAs), with a strong background in neuroscience and a passion for novel neuroscientific concepts and methods. The RAs will be involved in various aspects of our lab’s research, depending on their skills, interests, and dedication. The RAs will be exposed daily to the international research atmosphere of the ICPBR and of the DEB Lab, which has activities in 4 distinct research centers worldwide (Shanghai, Germany, Belgium, New York) as well as both local (Shanghai) and international collaborations. The possibility of an international PhD can be discussed.
“How does your heart’s connection to your brain influence how you feel and think, who you are? How is this connection organized and where in the brain do bodily signals arrive and shape brain dynamics, emotions, and cognition?”
The DEB Lab’s research focuses on brain regions (e.g., insular and cingulate cortices) and pathways (i.e., cortico-cortical, thalamocortical, interoceptive afferent and autonomic efferent) regulating body and brain dynamics and contributing to homeostatic affective states underlying subjective feelings. The DEB Lab employs state-of-the-art neuroscience methods in non-human primates (NHP) including cranial/spinal/nerve surgeries, viral pathway tracing, high-resolution neuronal connectomics and gene mapping, optogenetics, single-cell and multiple units electrophysiology, high-resolution functional magnetic resonance imaging (4.7T and 7T) in anesthetized and awake states, as well as comparative examination of healthy and diseased human brains, in order to address key questions on the nature of the neurobiological ‘self’ and develop specific mental disorder models in NHP.
Requirements:
A bachelor's degree or higher is required. We maintain broad criteria for background specialties, welcoming candidates from fields like biology, medicine, neuroscience, engineering, and related disciplines. Proficiency in English, alongside traits of curiosity, high motivation, and diligence, is essential. Additional skills in experimentation (e.g., recording, histology), programming languages (Matlab, Python, R), and analysis techniques (complex time series, spatial/temporal correlation, clustering) are advantageous.

实验室研究方向 & 技术路线：
“心脏与大脑的连接如何影响你的感受、思考以及个体的个性？这种连接是如何组织的，身体信号会传送到大脑的哪个位置来影响大脑的动态，并影响你的情绪和认知？”
DEB Lab的研究重点是大脑的区域（例如岛叶和扣带回皮层）和通路（即皮质-皮质、丘脑-皮质、内感受器的传入和自发传出）如何调节身体和大脑的动态变化，进而影响机体感受情绪的状态。DEB Lab运用先进的非人灵长类动物神经科学方法，包括颅骨/脊髓/神经外科手术、病毒示踪技术、高分辨率神经元连接组学和基因图谱绘制、光遗传学、单细胞和多单元电生理学、在麻醉和清醒状态下的高分辨率功能性磁共振成像（4.7T和7T），进行健康和患病人类大脑的对照，以期解密关于神经生物学的核心问题：“自我意识”的本源，并尝试在非人灵长类动物上搭建对应的精神障碍模型。
岗位要求：
- 应聘者必须拥有生物学/医学/神经科学/工程学或相关专业的本科及以上学历；
应聘者的专业背景需与DEB Lab研究内容相关；- 应聘者需熟练掌握英语；
- 应聘者需勤奋工作、积极主动、自主性强、善于探索求知；
- 在实验相关技能（例如记录实验数据、组织学实验）、编程语言（Matlab、Python、R）和分析技术（复杂时间序列、空间/时间相关性、聚类分析）方面具有丰富经验者优先。
