Mid/High-level Software Engineer Position for the Department of Prof. Nikos Logothetis

Our research team in the International Center for Primate Brain Research (ICPBR, co-directed by Prof. Nikos Logothetis and Prof. Mu-Ming Poo) in Shanghai is seeking a highly motivated software engineer, with computational skills, to contribute to data analysis and modelling of concurrently acquired neurophysiological and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) data in the research projects of Professor Nikos Logothetis.

Responsibilities for Mid/High-level Software Engineer

  1. Understanding and experience with Complex Dynamic Systems
  2. Develop optimal methods for preprocessing and decomposition of multiscale data collected with concurrent electrophysiology and fMRI methods.
  3. Experience with System Identification Methods (preferably in Matlab), such as AutoRegressive (AR) models with eXogenous variables (ARX), Moving Averages (ARMAX), and Multi-Input/Output polynomial models.
  4. Develop and implement computational models and algorithms optimized for the analysis of multimodal and multiscale neurophysiological data.
  5. Maintain, configure, and optimize computer systems and software specifically tailored to the needs of our neuroscience research projects.
  6. Debug, optimize, and enhance existing code to improve performance and reliability.
  7. Actively engage in learning new skills and adapting to emerging technologies relevant to neuroscience research.
  8. Collaborate closely with Prof Logothetis to ensure seamless integration of data analysis tools with a variety of multidisciplinary experimental designs.

Specific Qualifications for Mid/High-level Software Engineer

  1. Ph.D. in Experimental or Computational Neuroscience or in a much-related field.
  2. Understanding of neuroscience research, data analysis, and computational modeling.
  3. Strong programming skills, with a focus on MATLAB; additional experience in Python or other relevant programming languages is a plus.
  4. Strong motivation to acquire new skills and contribute to innovative solutions in problems of neural complex systems.
  5. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a research team.
