Dr. Kaidi SHAO published an article in JOSS

Date:Dec 30, 2025

On December 30th, the Journal of Open Source Software, published the article titled "TranCIT: Transient Causal Interaction Toolbox". This work was carried out by Kaidi Shao from the International Center for Primate Brain Research / CEBSIT (CAS), in collaboration with Salar Nouri from University of Tehran, Iran, and Shervin Safavi from Technische Universität Dresden, Germany.

The article introduced a new toolbox TranCIT developed by researchers. It is an open-source Python toolbox for analyzing transient causal interactions in multivariate time series, particularly suitable for event-driven dynamics in complex systems such as neural circuits. It integrates advanced methodologies including Granger Causality (GC), Transfer Entropy (TE), and Dynamic Causal Strength (DCS), along with comprehensive tools for event detection, data alignment, and simulation. TranCIT is widely applicable across neuroscience, climatology, economics, and other domains, advancing the study of transient dynamics in complex systems.
