On July 2nd, 2024, Mr. Ewald WEBER and Prof. LIU Feng from the University of Queensland visited ICPBR and gave a talk to members of the institute.
Mr. Ewald WEBER’s talk entitled “RF Research in MRI” focused on his many RF design works from his time at Bruker Spin System and the University of Queensland.
Prof. LIU Feng gave a talk entitled “MRI Engineering Research”. This talk focuses on the most recent research work of the University of Queensland’s MRI engineering team, including electromagnetic design, imaging methods (conventional and machine learning-based), and technical trials at high-field MRI.
Biosketch of Ewald WEBER:
Ewald WEBER, Senior Research Officer, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Queensland. In the late 1980s, Ewald Weber worked at Bruker in Germany, where he conducted research and development for RF engineering. In 2001, he joined Spin System in Australia to create MRI products. In 2005, he joined the University of Queensland's School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science to do high-field radio frequency research and development. Mr. Weber is currently a senior researcher at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia.
Biosketch of LIU Feng:
Dr. Feng Liu earned a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from Zhejiang University in 2000. He then pursued postdoctoral research at the University of Queensland in Australia, where he is now a professor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He primarily focuses on teaching and scientific research in the disciplines of MRI electromagnetic design, imaging methodologies, and biomedical engineering. He has authored over 200 academic publications and holds over ten patents. The Australian Research Council (ARC)recognized him with the Discovery Outstanding Researcher Award.
