The surgical suite within ICPBR, an integral part of our NHP facility, is available for reservation by all affiliated research groups. Prior to its use, every scientist undergoes a comprehensive training program, ensuring a profound understanding of perioperative nursing and surgical protocols, thus upholding the highest standards of surgical proficiency.
Our well-prepared team of seasoned surgeons, dedicated veterinarians, and skilled technical assistants ensures a seamless and highly efficient operational process when conducting complex procedures. These procedures mainly comprise neuro and spinal surgeries in non-human primates.
With the incorporation of cutting-edge equipment, top-tier surgical instruments, and surgeons with decades of experience, our highly trained surgical team consistently delivers outstanding and enduring results, all while maintaining an exceptionally low complication rate.
The surgical facility at ICPBR comprises various specialized rooms meticulously designed to support the full spectrum of needs. These encompass an operation theatre, an animal preparation room, a scrub room, as well as dedicated spaces for changing, gowning, and degowning. Each of these rooms is thoughtfully arranged to facilitate the seamless movement of personnel, animals, and essential materials, ensuring an efficient and well-organized environment for every aspect of our surgical procedures.
The operation theatre is outfitted with state-of-the-art features, including a class 100 air filtration system and a UV light system. These technologies work in unison to minimize the presence of dust, pathogens, and contaminants, fostering an exceptionally clean and controlled environment. This pristine atmosphere is pivotal in maintaining the precision and quality of our work.
The advanced surgical lighting system delivers impeccable and precision-focused illumination from all vantage points. The shadow-free lighting not only ensures natural colour representation but also extends deep-cavity visibility, empowering our skilled surgeons to execute intricate procedures with utmost precision within a brilliantly lit surgical workspace.
A dedicated animal-specific anaesthesia machine allows the precise administration of anaesthesia gases and enables the veterinarian to deliver safe and reliable balanced anaesthesia. In tandem with this, we utilize an advanced patient monitoring system that meticulously tracks vital signs, including heart rate, temperature, ECG, and blood pressure, to ensure the well-being and appropriate maintenance of the animal throughout the surgical procedure, ensuring their safety and comfort.
The operation theatre further features a high-end surgical microscope for advanced surgical visualization. With its dual-head design, both the surgeon and their assistant benefit from a crystal-clear and intricately detailed view of the surgical field. Additionally, the microscope seamlessly transitions to a camera view, showcased on a high-resolution display, facilitating a close-up perspective for trainees without compromising the sterile field. This offers a comprehensive and versatile solution for enhanced surgical training and precision.
