Laboratory of Neural Dynamics of Visual Perception and Cognition

The Laboratory of Neural Dynamics of Visual Perception and Cognition was established under the leadership of Dr. Vishal Kapoor, who serves as the principal investigator and heads the laboratory with a dedicated team.

The lab is currently composed of a group, each bringing a diverse array of backgrounds and expertise to the table. Together, we are embarked on an exciting research journey focused on unraveling one of the most profound enigmas in the realm of science: 'what is consciousness?’.

We invite you to join us in exploring the depths of this captivating scientific quest. Feel free to reach out if you are interested in collaborating with us on this fascinating endeavor.

One of the most enigmatic and arguably hardest problems in neuroscience is to understand the biological basis of consciousness. Conscious visual perception has been postulated as a favorable form of consciousness to study, and has therefore, been the subject of much scientific investigation. In this regards, the research questions in the lab are aimed at investigating the neural substrates underlying conscious perception and disambiguating these neural processes from those underlying cognition.
